A new study by the University of California at San Francisco is showing that the most common drugs found in online forums are not for erectile dysfunction, according to the study. This means the drugs are ineffective in all men.
“It’s very common,” says Dr. Scott J. Miller, professor of medicine at UCSF and one of the study’s authors. “There’s not enough data to say what’s the best thing to do.”
Many of the drugs in the online forums are already in Phase 3 studies, so the drugs may not be available in all men.
Many of the drugs are used to treat erectile dysfunction and are also commonly used for benign prostatic hyperplasia. The drug is available as the generic version of Viagra.
Dr. Miller also says the drugs are more effective for erectile dysfunction in younger men. In the study, men who took one of the drugs had a 50% higher chance of having erectile dysfunction compared with men who took a placebo.
“The problem with this drug is that this study doesn’t show a correlation between the use of the drug and erectile function,” Miller says.
The research is just the first step in showing that the drugs don’t have the potential to improve erectile dysfunction.
Miller hopes that this work can help to increase awareness of the drugs’ effectiveness and to encourage men to seek help. “It’s a good time to start taking it and see what’s the best medication available,” Miller says.
VIDEOFrequently asked questions about erectile dysfunction
“There are so many different treatment options available for erectile dysfunction,” Miller says. “I think it’s important to look at the available medications in a way that you can understand what they are and be aware of how they may impact the future.”
“If you look at the available options, the biggest thing is, how effective is the medication?” Miller says.
“There’s an increased chance of achieving an erection,” he says. “This is something that I think is really important.”
The study found that the drugs are effective in all men, but there were no significant differences between the drugs in treating ED.
Miller hopes that this new study will have a positive impact in helping men who are taking these drugs to get an erection.
“If it’s not working, it’s time to see the doctor who’s prescribing it.”

“I don’t know that I’ll be able to do a full-blown erection,” Miller says.
“It’s hard to do a full erection in one sitting,” he says. “I’ve had a few times where I had no erection and had an erection. Now, I can’t do a full erection. I want to be able to have an erection.”
The research is the first to show that the drugs don’t have the potential to improve erectile dysfunction.
“I think that this was a new development for us,” Miller says.
Miller hopes that this new study will increase awareness about the drugs’ effectiveness and encourage men to seek help.
“There is not enough data to say what’s the best thing to do.”
“I think it’s important to look at the available options, the best thing you can do to treat ED, the best thing you can do to help men with ED.”
